Whisky

The word whisky comes from the Scottish Gaelic Uisge Beatha or Aqua Vitae, ‘Water of life’. The malt whisky, produced and distilled, usually in wild places, in open countryside, in the valleys, on the shores of lakes or streams in Scotland, it acquires different characteristics according to the region of production. There are in Scotland 92 distilleries of malt whisky production (to which must be added to the distillates in the commer-cio distilleries no longer productive) but not an equal number of single malt, as most distilleriesprefer to devote their production to the vatting and blending. The geographical positioning, the raw materials used and, above all, the refinement characterize it in a decisive way the taste of Single Malt. It is therefore important to understand the main features of the zones of production and the choices made regarding maturation. To the Vatted malt whisky, obtained by mixing different single malt that pos-are to be produced and aged in various areas, this territorial characterization may be lacking. The term Blended is finally related to the mixtures in addition to single barley also contain grain whisky).
